Bigger Than You

The Peter Principle of Projects: a project will grow to the level of incompetence of the leader(s).

That means 2 things:Epic Empires
If you want your project to grow you have to grow to stay ahead of it.
If you want your project to grow even bigger, you have to get out of the way and let it.

It really is all about you. Your business or project is stuck because you are. When I say you, I mean me. You (I) have a responsibility to continually grow and improve or our projects can’t.

If we want our projects to be even bigger than us, we have to get out of the way and let others take a stake. The more we push decision-making, idea-generation and leadership out, the better our results will be. Those results will be multiplied by the number of people working towards success. The size of the wins will increase with the encouragement of innovation. The number of failed experiments will also increase with the number of leaders multiplied by the culture of innovation.

It takes time to bring people in, train them, share your vision and build a culture. That time is an investment in your project’s success.

The Three Success Factors

I have worked closely with 100’s of business owners and I have seen too many struggle. I have seen what works and what doesn't.

It takes 3 things to succeed:
1. Hard work - and I know you do that already.
2. Knowledge - domain knowledge: you've got that and continue to learn; and business knowledge: this is where everyone focuses and it's easy to find
3. Mindset - This is the killer app. This is what makes or breaks small business owners.

We work on Mindset here at the Business Owners Success Club: how you think about yourself and your business.

When you focus on a business that gives you what you need to live a Good Life and gives others what they need to solve a problem, everything else falls into place and you have a successful business.

Using that as a framework we work on one aspect of business every month. February is "Your Place in Your Community" month.

In March we will open the doors to our online community. Stay Tuned.
